Hummingbird

Turns without reflections
to the curves without smiles
of shadows with mustaches,
registers the murmurs of speed,
the minuscule terror,
searches under some cold cinders
for the smallest birds,
those which never close their wings,
resist the wind.

Paul Eluard, translated by Amy Levin

Is that really a hummingbird? Looks albino. I've never seen one that wasn't jewel-colored.

Yeah, it's a hummingbird. Either it's a girl, or it was moving faster than the speed of light and thus the rainbow head was washed out.
The bird might have been some kind of renegade, now that I think about it: he ignored the hummingbird bush nearby and went for this anonymous non-eponymous bush.
